This piece came from a simple place: I fell in love with Baba Tjeko’s style — the colors, the bold shapes, the way his work feels proudly African without even trying. I wanted to bring a bit of that energy with me here in Asia. While working on a commissioned project at TGS Bistro Hotel in Bukit Bintang, I felt this urge to create something that leaves an African fingerprint in the space. Something that represents brown-skinned women living boldly, thriving, and showing up as their full, authentic selves. So this artwork is my little celebration of that; the confidence, the warmth, the rhythm. It’s a nod to home, expressed in the language of color and shape.
